Michael Shakespeare studied violin making at the London College of Furniture in the late 1970s under Patricia Naismith. He was then fortunate to be employed at J. Guivier, one of the oldest surviving violin houses in the West End of London. He worked here for almost ten years and gained valuable experience restoring many of the fine instruments which constantly passed through the workshop.
